A Sustainable Mobility Advisory Board has been established to assist in the elaboration of the SUMP of Comayagua, Honduras

In the context of the cooperation agreement between the Municipality of Comayagua (Honduras) and the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID for its Spanish Acronym), Ciudad Emergente, a Chilean NGO, has been commissioned to develop the first phase of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of the city. The SUMP, based on a detailed analysis of the current stand of mobility, will propose a series of measures to be implemented in the Historic Centre of Comayagua in order to promote the use of public and non-motorised transport (NMT), as well as to reduce car dependency in the area.

With the aim of assisting in the elaboration of the SUMP, Urban Pathways has established an advisory board that will follow up the process and provide the necessary technical assistance. The mobility experts from the Wuppertal Institute Stefan Werland, Frederic Rudolph, Santosh Kodukula and María Rosa Muñoz will meet Ciudad Emergente’s team, Kurt Steffens, Rafael Valladares and Juan Manuel Guzmán, in 3 different stages of the SUMP construction process. The advisory meetings have been structured in the following way:

  1. First Advisory Meeting (27th November 2019) – Approach and methodology for the elaboration of a SUMP
  2. Second Advisory Meeting (2nd week of December) – Current stand of mobility indicators in Comayagua and next steps
  3. Third Advisory Meeting (4th week of January) – Definition and prioritisation of the necessary measures to be implemented in Comayagua
